The following website is a virtual site study of the Australian National Maritime Museum. It is targeted towards Stage 2 students and the HSIE subject, in particular the history context.

Explore the Virtual Site Study Modules

Designed for Stage 3 teachers and students, these learning activities provide engaging pre-visit and post-visit tasks to help students prepare for their museum experience and reflect on what they have learned.

Context

The site study takes place at the Australian National Maritime Museum. Students explore objects, maps, artifacts and exhibitions to investigate how people lived and travelled by sea in the past. 

Pre Visit

Students will be introduced to the inquiry question exploring how Sydney Harbour has changed over the past 200 years. 

Site Work

Students will explore the Australian National Maritime Museum and participate in activities and make observations to answer the inquiry questions. 

Post Visit

After visiting the Australian National Maritime Museum, students will reflect on their experiences using evidence and information collected from their excursion. They will complete activities to consolidate their learning and communicate their findings.
